About Regis Baseball
Baseball practices are weekends and weekdays, 3-4 days a week, and they usually last from 4-6 PM. Games are usually weekends and week days as well, although the games usually last a little longer from 4-7 PM. Full practices are usually held on the grass fields on Randalls Island, although sometimes there will be hitting practices in the Regis Lower Gym. Expect to get home from practices around 7:30 (may be a earlier or later depending on where you live), and expect to get home from games around 8 PM, although sometimes if you have a game in Staten Island you will get home around 9 PM. The coach for the Freshman team is Larry Brownridge. Often times, players have expressed that you will have to constantly adapt to the teams needs. You may rotate a lot between different positions, depending on the necessities of the team. However, the team is always extremely dedicated, and you can always rely on your teammates for help because everyone on the Regis team wants you to be successful. While the Regis team has not any championships in the past couple of years, they have consistently been competitive amongst the major sports schools in the CHSAA. While Regis does not recruit a lot of talent, as Senior Will Kolani as expressed, “the culture of the team is competitive and we want to win for each other so badly we will always find a way to succeed.”
